My Favourite Poet

English Essay on "My Favourite Poet"

A poet loses his regional identity and becomes international when his poetry sings of universal truth, represents some international problems or his pictures in words capture some eternal beauty of nature. Urdu has produced a few poets of such caliber who are in no way inferior to Shakespear Milton, Dante, Firdausi, Keats or other poets of international fame. In Urdu Mir, Ghalib, lqbal and Anees are the poets who can be compared to any poet, the world has produced so far but I like Anees for his music, his magic of words, his pictures and his psychological treatment of different sent aments; instincts, thought and situation.
The first quality of Anees’s poetry is his music. ”Music soft and sweet, like that of the evening breeze walled from the sleeping seas and playing hide and seek in the drooping trees”. According to Dr Zoar, he mingles the music of thoughts with the music of words to charm his readers. In his poetry there is a flow. Words flow like a running brook in his poetry and enchants the reader. 4essay.blogspot.com
The other remarkable thing in his poetry is his pictures. His pictures appear to be real, living and breathing. They do not only move but speak. He has drawn pictures of battles, of running brooks, of a blooming pastures, of swift moving horses, of blood thirsty swords and of such other thing and they all appear to be real. To Allama Shibli, the world has not produced an artist like him, as his pictures, are animate and breathe. His Psychological treatment of emotions, sentiments and situations makes him superior to shakespeare. He depicts compound emotions and instincts and so natural and real they appear that one is astonished. Allama Shibli Nomani is of the opinion that some times he paints a complicated picture situations, of emotional conflicts and of desperation in a single line so vivid and complete that one can not help marveling at his art.
Anees gives dramatic touches to situations in his poetry. People appear to move, talk and express their feelings as if they are living. His characters are heroes of Islam, the beloved of the Holy Prophet and are real historical persons. So what he says of them are bare truths. These heroes are loved by every Muslim by virtue of faith and by virtue of the love they have for the Holy Prophet.

Charms of Living in a Country

English Essay on "Charms of Living in a Country"

The country life has charms of its own. Those living in the hurly burly and noises of a city cannot imagine how peaceful and serene the country life is. There is peace all around except the caws of crows, no harsh sound is heard. This gives peace of mind and saves a man from the irreparable damages caused by noises to hearing, nerves and mind.
Life in a country is pleasant. We breathe in pure air. The pure air is beneficial to health. It is not polluted with the smoke emitted by buses, wagons, taxis and other automobiles. There are no mills and factories and workshops to pollute the air with smoke and small particles of carbon. These particles and the smoke cause cancer and other diseases of lungs and eyes. One living in a country is not open to these hazards.
Life in a country is simple. People eat simple food and lead a simple life. They do not have to spend their money on gaudy things of a sets, cars and other luxuries, Women and girls are not mad after articles of make up. Their beauty is independent of make up and is original. Make up is a way of telling a lie and presenting a false feature. They do not resort to make up. 4essay.blogspot.com
People inn village arc generally farmers. They work hard in their fields and do other manual labor. They usually go to other villages on foot. These things keep them fit and strong and they are usually free from heart diseases and diseases of blood vessels. They sleep soundly after working in their fields and need no medicine to induce sleep.
The food in a village is pure and simple. It is not adulterated with impurities and dangerous things like brick powder, grease etc. A simple diet is invigorating. Fresh fruits and green vegetable supply the required vitamins and minerals and keen them fit and fresh.
A village is free from the dangers lurking in a city. There are no accidents, terrorism and pick pocketing. One living in a village is safe. In cities a neighbor does not know the other.
Unemployment in Pakistan

English Essay on "Unemployment in Pakistan"

Unemployment is a problem which has hit every country but is very acute in Pakistan. In every house in Pakistan one will find one or more graduates who are unemployed. The problem is more acute in Karachi, Hyderabad and cities like Lahore for various reasons.
The first reason for unemployment is that the birth rate is far more than needed and it out runs the rate of economic development. The greater efforts of the government towards family planning have failed due to lack of intensive drive opposition of Mullas, and the belief of the people that God, who feeds the children in wombs will also feed them after birth. In fact, things have not been done so far to let Islam meet the challenges of the modern world. Our present educational system is also responsible for the present state of un-employment.
It produces only clerks who seek white collar Jobs and to provide such jobs in such a member is impossible. In our educational system higher education is available to every man irrespective of his aptitude. Vocational education is not given to the students. The technical colleges and schools are not producing engineers and technician of any worth. There students are not given extensive practical training in various engineering units and commercial workshops. 4essay.blogspot.com The teachers dictate notes in the class from a notebook. They do not care if a student understands things or not. The student, too, use unfair means to pass the examination. What can be expected from such technicians and engineers My cousin, who is a first class diploma holder in automobile, can no repair own motor cycles.
The economic development in the country has been disappointing so far for various reasons. We lack expert planner’s funds, materials and foreign exchange. Due to delays in taking decision much time is wasted and the cost rises up as things get dearer.
Other causes of unemployment are quota system, favoritism and other malpractices, Whenever a government comes out with some scheme to counterbalance unemployment, dishonest persons come forward to bungle the money and make the scheme a failure. Inefficiency and insincerity in executing these schemes on the part of some persons also result in non attainment of the target and consequently unemployment is not remedied.
To develop the country industrially, capital is needed and authorities have not launched alluring savings schemes for capital formation. To meet the need of more technicians and engineers polytechnic institutions must streets on adequate practical training for the students and they may be sent them to important engineering concerns for intensive practical training.

An Evening at a Beach

English Essay on "An Evening at a Beach"

During my stay at Karachi, I had an occasion to go to Clifton, one evening. Clifton is one of the places of Karachi where thousand of pleasure loving people go daily and enjoy. He who does not have a car of his own, catches a Clifton bound bus at Saddar.
Clifton presents the scene of a great Lahore Meta every evening. A multitude, comprising of males and females of all ages gather at the beach. They talk, gossip or laugh. Children run, chase each other and enjoy. Hawkers and Theta walas sell Beetles, cigarettes, chats, mineral water, tea, other eatable things, balloons and other articles.
A wall has been constructed along the beach to keep sea water away from the beach. People sit on the wall and watch the waves coming and breaking at the wall. Camels and horses are brought by local residents. Children and even grown up boys and girls sit on them and enjoy short trips along the beach on them. Groups of people stroll along the beach talking, smiling or laughing. 4essay.blogspot.com
I sat on the beach wall looking at the merry making people. It seemed that all cares, worries and worldly anxieties have left everyone it was thrilling to see children merry making. With the setting sun the shadows lengthened. The setting sun presented a lovely scene an the twilight made the western horizon colorful. The color, reflected in the water, looked so beautiful that I remained enchanted. With the coming of dusk, the people began to return one by one and soon the beach became deserted. I, too, climbed u the sloping beach and went to the play land.
The play land was flooding with light. Children sitting in small electricity driven cars were driving them. These cars collided with each other frequently. Some people were visiting the aquarium. I also went round the aquarium to look at the beautiful fish, I had never set eyes on before.
From the aquarium I went to the main hail the of play land. In this hail a lot of people were standing. Small boys and girls were busy in different video games. I also inserted a fifty paisa’s coin in the slit of a video game apparatus and peeped through the eyes glass. I saw deer, zebras and lions running fast. I was required to shoot them by pressing a button but I failed to shoot any. At last L returned home.

The Football Game

English Essay on "The Football Game"

Football is one of the most popular games. It is played in more than a hundred countries and regional, national and international tournaments are held. It is of two kinds. One which is played with feet is called soccer and the other which is played with hands as well as feet is called Rugby.
Soccer is played n a rectangular field 130 yards long and 100 yards broad. In the center a halt line is drawn across the breadth parallel to the goal line and a circle of 10 yards diameter is drawn in the center. A penalty area 44 yards long and 18 yards broad is drawn in front of each goal and within each penalty area, goal area 20 yards tong and 6 yards broad is marked. The two goal posts, at each end, have a bar across them feet high from the ground. The ball is made of either with a rubber bladder inside which is inflated with air. The circumference of the inflated is 27.28 inches and it weighs 14-16 oz. The duration of the game is 90 minutes with an interval of 5 minutes at halftime.
The game is played between two teams comprising of 11 players. Each team consists of a goal keeper. The object of the game is to score goals by kicking or heading the ball into the opponent’s goal but the ball must be kicked or headed from a place within the hall of the defending team. (4essay.blogspot.com) The team that scores more goals wins the goal. The ball is propelled with feet, head or body but the arms and hands must not be used. However the goal keeper is allowed to use his arms or hands also to defend the goal.
If a player sends the ball out of play over the touch line bounding the sides, one player of the opposing team throws it over his head into the play. Should an attacking player send the ball across the opponent’s goal line (out side the goal posts) the defending teams kicks the ball into play again. But if a defending player sends the ball across his own goal line but outside the goal posts the attacking team is awarded a corner kick.
Tripping in the game is illegal but the players can charge each other shoulder to shoulder. If a player is in opponent’s half and receives forward a pass from one of his own side he must have at least two members of the opposing team between himself and the opponent’s goal other vise he would be off-side.
For every infringement of the rule such as touching the ball with hand, being off side tripping, etc the referee allows a free kick to opposing team but if a foul is committed in team by a defending player inside his own penalty area a direct kick at the goal from the penalty spot is awarded to the attacking team.

The Holy Gathas

English Essay on "The Holy Gathas"

The Holy Gathas comprises of the teachings of Zara thustra , the prophet of Persia, who lived more than 1500 years ago before Christ according to Sir Jivanji Jamshedji Mody. The Gathas forms 17 out of 72 chapters of Yasjashne prayers. The language of the holy script is much closer to the language of Rig Vida. In his book. The verities of Religious Experience’ William James writes that “The Gathas are not only to be read and studied but to be lived and one who lives upon to the teachings, will find his life worth, living, and make a success of it.” Before reading a Gatha or hymn, a devotee must read a Khshnumam and another Khshnuman at the end of the Gatha.
According to Encyclopedia Britannica the hymns or Gathas contains not merely all forms of outward opposition and the unbelief and the luke warmness of adherent met by the great ZOROASTER hut also the inward misgivings of his own heart as to the truth and final victory of his cause. [4essay.blogspot.com] At one time hope, at another despondency, now assured confidence, now doubt and despair, here firm faith in the speedy coming of the kingdom of heaven there the thought of taking refuge by flight-Such is the range of emotion which find their immediate expression in hymns.
The teachings of the great Gathas can be summarized in three words, Humata (Good thoughts) Hukhata (Good words) and Huvarashta (Good deed). In them Zarathustra teaches what should be tile behaviour of a person towards himself, towards God and towards his fellow beings. Like Islam the old religion has also divided the duties of a man into three categories.
The first main teaching of the Gathas is to succeed in life morally and materially. One must tune oneself with Vahisinem mano, the God’s mind, by cultivating Good thoughts, Righteousness, Moral courage and divine wisdom. The second main teachings of the Gathas is to fight the evil mind (Angre Mainyus or Ahreman) with good mind (Spenta Mainyus). False hood is be to avoided at all cost. He calls Hell the the house of Lie. lie advocates that wrath must he suppressed; Violence must be guarded against. Self control must be maintained and duty must be done for the sake of duty. The Gathas teaches that enemies and bad persons are to be won over by good words. There are so many virtues to be practiced according to Gathas. In short Gathas teachings are directed to self improvement and sublimation of evil emotions by good emotions.
It will not be out of place to mention that Zoroaster believed that after death one has to pass over the bridge of judgment (chin vato pereto) which widens for virtuous man and becomes narrow and sharp as sword for the very bad who falls into hell. The followers of the religion also believe that in the last years of the creation on this earth a soshyant (prophet) will be born. All the dead will be reborn and the evil doers will be purified by passing through molten metal. People will stop thinking evil and goodness will reign supreme.
To be short, the Gathas (Hymns) consisting of 17 chapters and 238 paragraphs teaches one to fight one’s way through life with good thoughts, good wards and good deeds to shape one’s destiny.
We always hear health is wealth but never try and think what is health. Health is not the state of being fatly, fleshy, weighty or plump. It is the state of bin physically and mentally well and having the ability to work and labour to the utmost.
Those who are plump, too heavy and too weighty are suffering from obesity. Obesity is a handicap and a disease. It restricts prompt movement. It brings many ailments. The particles of fats circuiting with the blood block the coronary arteries and cause sudden death. A fat man is always prone to have diabetes, fatty, liver, fatty heart or hypertension.
Au unhealthy man is unable to work and it is work that brings joys in life. Always lying in bed makes life dull, monotonous and un-interesting. Such a man lives at the mercy of others. Ills in-activity keeps him devoid of the real pleasure the pleasure of work and an active life. I have seen gloomy and unfortunate persons who yearn for moving a little distance only but this pleasure has been refused to them for not taking care of then health. 4essay.blogspot.com
A healthy man enjoys life with his wife, children and friends. An unhealthy man is devoid of the pleasure of a good and satisfying meals. One suffering from carcinoma of throat, esophagus or stomach yearns for solid food.
Health is a gem and must He taken care of if health is lot no fit can purchase it, no authority can restore it and no prayer can bring it back if health is lost life becomes a burden. Tired of their ill health people cento suicide. It is cowardly to kill , no doubt, but life is in such person becomes unendurable.
An apple a day does not keep a doctor away in practical life.

Unity Is Strength

English Essay on "Unity Is Strength"

Unity is the state of people being woven into an individual to think, to act and to react. This harmony of thoughts and actions consolidates a family a tribe a community or a nation and puts at their hand the combined resources, power and ideas to meet ally adversary successfully. Unity is a great quality. it brings about concordance between different people for a common cause. Members of an orchestra or a team put in a grand show due to unity. In case every member of an orchestra plays his own tune the melody will take the characteristics of noise and if every member of team plays his own game the team will put in a dismal show and will lose the match.
Unity demands sacrifice. For the sake of unity one has to sacrifice ones freedom of action, freedom of speech and some other freedoms. It may demand pecuniary sacrifice, sacrifice of rights or sacrifice of property: But these sacrifices arc for a common cause which is important and momentous. Its significance makes it worth the sacrifices. 4essay.blogspot.com
If we look into the causes of our success in The 1965 Indo-Pak War, we will see that the miracle was accomplished by unity. India is a far greater country than Pakistan with far greater resources. She hoped to crush us down easily due to her supremacy in arms, ammunitions and troops but the entire Pakistani nation stood united like an iron wall and nave India a shameful defeat.
Unity is a great weapon against enemies It is a great force to overcome hindrances, difficulties; oppositions and deadlocks. It is a great impetus that leads to prosperity. It is as important a requirement for a family as it is for a clan, tribe, a community or a nation. I make them to thrive well.
It is truly said that united we stand and disunited we fall. We know that separately every straw is easily breakable but when they are woven together into a rope they become an unbreakable unit. In the Persian story book Kalifa And Damna there is a story of two young and fat bulls who lived in a jungle. Every time a lion attempted to devour one of them, the other came to the help of its fellow bull and they drove the lion away with their horns. A fox who was a partner of the lion, created misunderstanding between them and their unity broke up. Disunited they fell an easy prey to the lion, individually.
Misunderstandings, suspicions, doubts and mistrusts are cankers and eat away unity. In the inception they have no solid or sound base. They spring out of mere follies but when they take root they destroy unity and go a long way to destroy a family, a tribe, a community for a nation. To survive as a nation we must maintain unity. To talk or think in terms of Punjabis, Sindhis, Baluchis, Pathans and Mahajirs is a tendency of narrow minded people which is deplorable and must be shunned away.
My favourite leisure time activity is reading books because they play a very important port in developing the minds of students. They provide a valuable training in the art of self-expression and also provide an opening for the student’s creative genius. I read religious books because they have a deep effect on human minds.(4essay.blogspot.com) They teach us how to live a life and how to treat other human beings with due respect and dignity. I also read general books which contain articles based on various topics, stories, poems, etc. by different writers. In this way I am able to increase my knowledge by these valuable books.

The Interest Free Banking

English Essay on "The Interest Free Banking"

A bank, primarily, deals in money. It accepts money from the public and loans it to the persons who need money to carry out their business or need to meet their urgent demands. The money that a bank gets is the surplus money that goes towards capital formation. Traders, businessmen, producers and entrepreneurs borrow from bank to direct the money to productive channel.
One is reluctant to part with one’s savings unless one is compensated for one’s sacrifice. For this, the depositor demands some extra money from the bank. To meet this demand and also the cost of the services rendered to the borrowers the bank takes back a small portion of the profits from the borrowers along with the principals. This extra money is called interest. 4essay.blogspot.com
A bank pays its depositors at a fixed rate of interest and charges the borrowers at a specified rate. But Islam disapprobates the interest because there is uncertainty in a business. It may be a success or may fail. It may not earn profit so much as to pay the interest. To a poor man who lives from hand to mouth the mere repayment of the borrowed money that he borrows to meet some urgent need such as marrying his daughter or repairing his old house etc., is an up hill task. The payment of interest would ruin him financially. On these grounds Islam banned interest or Rabuah and declared it Haram or impious.
The interest system has brought with it is disadvantages. Expansion of capitalist society, monopoly in the markets, accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few, and flourishing of the privileged class came with the interest system. Poor and people of scanty means cannot even think of borrowing money at the rate of interest charged by banks for the unproductive loans they need to meet their urgent consumptive demands.
It is pity that our intelligent ulamas or Muslim experts in financial matters have failed so far to devise a satisfactory method to do away with the undesirable interest. Some think the interest free banking is not feasible. Some advance proposals that sound beautiful in theory but fail when put to practice. No Muslim country has so far been able to do away with it.
The government of Pakistan have taken many steps toward Islamisation of the banking system. They have introduced profit and loss sharing accounts and have introduced measures to do away with the element of interest on loans. But ulamas are not satisfied with the steps taken by the government. They argue that the sources of profit paid on deposits are un Islamic. The sources of the income of the banks include discounting bills and selling arid buying forward exchange. The rates for these transactions are fixed taking into consideration the element of the loss of interest. They say that rates of foreign exchange for various transactions are also fixed taking into consideration the element of loss of interest. They further say that the authorities have only charged the name of interest and call it service charges which arc changed at fixed rate. Due to these defects the new banking system is not approved by them. But none of the critics has come out with a practical solution.

Facebook and Students

English Essay on "Facebook and Students"

In 21st century the most popular and new word has come into our life. That word is ‘Facebook’. ‘Facebook’ is the most popular social networking website on the internet. If you have not heard about Facebook until reading this, then you must have been in a coma for the last 5 years. There are about 350 million active users on this website. The main idea of Facebook is that you can keep in touch with all your friends around the world who has Facebook. You can send messages to your friend’s electronic wall, put up a status saying something like “Going to the mall, need to get a new pair of shoes” or “it’s finally the weekend! :)”.
In the 350 million users on Facebook, 67% of them are between the ages of 13 -25. More than 35 million users update their status every day. 2.5 billion Photos are added each month.
The highest age groups who use Facebook are teenagers. Most of them keep the website running whenever they are using the computer and general teens nowadays are always on the computer, if they aren’t in school/college or when they aren’t asleep. I feel that teens should be focused on their school work or be socializing with their friends in person or exercising. Facebook is just changing the new generation of youngsters completely because the teenage life is one of the most important stages of life and wasting it on Facebook is not encouraging this in anyway.(4essay.blogspot.com ) It is also a complete distraction to their mind; like nowadays when all their homework and research are on ICT, they would get diverted into Facebook just to check if there was anything updated among their friends.
Remember back in the good old days, when teens would do their homework handwritten, play sports and hang out with friends. Today, most teens would only speak to their friends on Face book, while we can see them battling obesity as they stare at their friend’s message on their wall. In summary, teens don’t have a life because they are on Face book 24/7, except for those who don’t use Face book or occasionally do.
Face book is also where people can see the gossip among their friends, virtual arguments, relationship status and updates, who is in whose ‘top friends’, you can become fan of anything, join groups, post pictures and videos, play juvenile games, invite friends to parties or events and a heap more. Mainly, all this would just disturb people into living life to their fullest.

It’s not just teens who become addicted even grownups do. An average person spends about 55 minutes on Face book. This statistic isn’t that bad but some people spend about 3-5 hours. Technology might be taking over people’s lives. The internet is what the youth does almost all the time and other growing social networking sites such as Twitter might become the next Face book.
On a whole, my view about the social network being a big time waster is a true fact according to me. Teenagers especially, should spend less time on Facebook and get some sunlight. Adults, who spend their days on Facebook, must be unemployed because they should have so much work to do or they could make this world a much better place by doing something productive! My opinion is not banning Facebook completely because I also agree you should log in sometimes and I recommend should go on for about 45 minutes a day, if you do have Facebook. So, this is my impression of Facebook. I’m sure some part of you agrees with me.

Democracy in Pakistan

English Essay on "Democracy in Pakistan"

The idea of basic democracy promote the system of representative government that is best suited to the culture and genius of our people. It takes due recognition of the principle that ultimately the people are sovereign and the best possible way to cater to their want is to associate them, one way or the other with the process of authority. It is not possible for the people also as a whole to arrive at joint decisions on day-to-day problems. The only way is to sleet a few individuals to represent large groups. The process of choosing must be such that it results in the selection of individuals who an correctly estimate effectively interpret and honestly protect the interest of those whom they represent.
In Pakistan, our country more than 85% of our people live in villages. An average villager is able to see the village as the attention of his which is more than a reality to him. The management of the affair of the village is something in which he can recognize his own self interest. He can understand very well that the betterment and welfare of the village in his own welfare, because he lives in the free atmosphere of the village.
On the other hand the 15% of our people who live in the cities nearby towns are treated in entirely different way. In order to have a uniform system of choosing all over the countries ought to be applied to all. That pattern is in no sense unstable for necessities in fact there is very possibility that it may be more suitable than any other alternative.(4essay.blogspot.com) A city can be broken up for that purpose into population units of the same size as of villages and the same procedure in then be employed.
Democracy is acknowledge of representative government cannot be reduced to a cut and definition for its final stage has yet to come. However our representatives have reached the assemblies and the 1973 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is now not under any suspension, we hope them to remain sincere to their people, their land their religion. More than hundred and forty million people are looking for the bright future by trusting their representatives. They should look upon democracy as a classless society, which is based upon justice and equality. In short, it must be a unique blend of co-operation, organization and co-ordination.

Load Shedding of CNG

English Essay on "Load Shedding of CNG"

At the present time, the majority vehicles in Pakistan run on CNG (Compress Natural Gas). In this situation Pakistan has the massive number of CNG filling stations. But nowadays, Pakistan is facing CNG crisis. Moreover, Punjab province is the country’s largest province with respect to population which is used in the greatest amount of CNG is our vehicles, industries, mills and home. According to the Pakistani Government, the reason of load-shedding of CNG is only for winter seasons because the gas freezing in the pipes and its pressure becomes very low. There is a sharp increase in the use of CNG vehicles as well, but the Government, production of gas is not seeing any increments with that percentage. That is how, Pakistani Government continued CNG load-shedding in the summers.
Another one reason of loadseding is when General Musharraf’s as President of Pakistan, he implemented certain policies which resulted in gas shortages. He promoted the use of CNG as an alternative to petrol.(4essay.blogspot.com) The price of CNG was less than half the price of petrol, hence the majority of people switched over to it. The government also encouraged setting up CNG stations to ensure there were enough in every region to meet the demands. As a result, many people took this opportunity to set up CNG stations, and in some neighborhoods, one could be found after every few meters. Due to this, the residents of the area did not receive enough natural gas during high peak seasons.
The public started using CNG in a few years; especially the public transport was now running on CNG. According to the figures of 2009, there were 21, 91,000 vehicles using CNG Engines/CNG Kits and 2941 CNG refill stations in the country and currently this figures increasing very high rate.
Majority of public transporters in Pakistan do not do their transport business on CNG during these days because CNG is not available, at about three or four days in a week, this causes not only a great loss to the transporters themselves but the life of the commoners is also affected badly. The students face difficulty in going to their educational institutes due to the in availability of transport. School and office staff that uses the public transport reaches their offices late, and this happens more often. Patients suffering from fatal diseases die, due the in availability of transport to the hospitals during the days CNG is not available.
Same is the case with small level businesses, due to CNG load-shedding and public is extremely insulted at the Government due to the on-going CNG load-shedding. Moreover, at this moment is the right time to work out this crisis and Government must take the serious steps to resolve this serious issue otherwise this problem will gone out of the margin.
After a hard day's work, nothing is more refreshing than some rest or some sort of recreation. Rest helps to conserve physical energy. Recreation makes us fresh and fit. This, infact, is our relaxation period.
We cannot keep on working continuously without relaxation. Relaxation is necessary and we must have it. It keeps us going. A change in usual routine work creates extra energy in us. free time makes our lives less monotonous.
Like others I get some free time every week. But I do not misuse it. There are many people who think that free time means plain idleness. This is wrong idea of spare free time. It means a change from one kind of activity to another. Whenever I am free do some kind of household work. I clean my room and arrange my books and note-books. I do some gardening. I write letters to my relatives and friends.

Whenever I get free time, I read home interesting books and magazines. When I get tired of reading, I go for an outing to Clifton. The sight of the sea seems to have a peculiarly peaceful effect upon my mind. Every sight and sound inspires a spirit of rest and peacefulness. It is a delightful change, after escaping from the noisy bustle of our daily work.(4essay.blogspot.com) Here nature is quiet. At times, we friends arrange a picnic at any far distant place. If I am free in the morning or evening, I go to the school play-ground. There I play one game or another. Sometimes I attend a public meeting to hear the lectures of great persons.
I consider free time precious and do not like to waste it. I use it in some useful work.

A Stormy Night

English Essay on "A Stormy Night"

I still recall that night with fear. It was October, perhaps, when my uncle and one of his friends arranged for a boat to take us for fishing in the sea. It was a big boat with five sailors. We went quite a long distance away from Manora even. During the way we enjoyed fishing and fried fish to eat. A new type of fish was fished the name of which I forget. My uncle’s friend lit a cigarette and put it into the mouth of the fish and it smoked to our astonishment like a smoker.
As dusk began to approach we stated our return journey. But as late might have it, the wind became rough and powerful, all of a sudden and the waves became very high. Darkness overtook us and instead of going towards the shore we were being carried by the winds and waves away. The sailors were trying hard to change the direction but it was of no avail. 4essay.blogspot.com
As it struck 10 in the night, the sea became more and more tumultuous and angry. The waves became very high. They used to take the boat very high and as the crests passed and the trough of the waves came, the boat fell from a considerable height into the water. At each fall we felt that our hearts were coming out to our mouths and we thought the boat would not come up. But another wave followed it and we were to undergo the same shock, fear of approaching death and sense of helplessness again and again. The cloud had canopied the sky and it was pitch dark all around except the shining fish due to presence of phosphorous which occasionally came with the waves. The sea was so stormy by mid night that even the sailors lost hope of survival. My uncle was very ill and he vomited after every five minutes. Then my uncle’s friend asked us to pray. We prayed for some time with tears running down our cheeks. Who had lost all hope of survival and were expecting to be drowned any time.
Suddenly a seagull came and sat on the mast. We took it to be a good omen and thought that Allah had sent it, in answer to two our prayers, to console us. The despair that had caught us vanished soon. We were surprised to learn later that every body was thinking the same thing about the gull. Hope had been rekindled in our hearts. Soon, the rough wind became gentler and gambler and the sea calmer and calmer. The sailors took the boat towards break-water and the currents then drove us towards Manora. From there we oared to Karachi harbour. I vowed never to go for fishing in the sea and I mean to keep it.

Merits and Demerits of Internet

English Essay on "Merits and Demerits of Internet"

Merits of Internet
Internet has been perhaps the most outstanding innovation in the field of communication. Internet is defined as a collection of various services and resources. Although, many people still think e-mail and World Wide Web as the principle constituents of Internet, there is a lot more in store than e-mail, chat rooms, celebrity web sites and search engines. Today internet has brought a globe in a single room. Right from getting news across the corner of the world to accessing knowledge resources to shopping, everything is at your fingertips.
As with every single innovation, internet has its own advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless the advantages of the Internet are so huge in number that they outperform the disadvantages quite easily. Let us see what are advantages and disadvantages of Internet. 4essay.blogspot.com

Demerits of Internet
There are a lot of people who see the internet as a promoter of immorality. The first and the foremost disadvantages of internet for students is the wastage of time in social networking websites like facebook, twitter, orkut etc, Students are found spending ample time with These social sites rather than with their books This habit spoils their time, learning habit in some case leads them to involve in immoral activities Besides this the general disadvantages are spamming.
Life in Pakistani Village

English Essay on "Life in Pakistani Village"

Pakistan is a country of villages like other countries but the villages in western countries have all the facilities available in a city while the villages in Pakistan and other Asian countries are far backward.
In Pakistan villages, in different regions, different from each other due to cultural traditional and racial differences. A village in Sindh is different from a village in Punjab or in Baluchistan but there are some features common to all.
All villages comprise of cottages or huts. The cottages are Kutchcha houses and the huts are made of straw. The streets are narrow, generally unpaved and crowded with domestic animals, hens and cocks. The houses or huts are small, built quite close to each other and unfinished. 4essay.blogspot.com
Simple living is also a feature of all Pakistani villages. Villages are always clad in Shalwar kameez but the head dress differs from region to region. They eat simple food. They work hard from morning till evening in their fields and return overtired. They take their evening meals early and then go to the village otaqs or meeting places where they talk, discuss village problems, sing or tell stories. On occasions they dance and sing. But in different regions the dance is different. The villagers are of the whole very religious. The dirty western culture has not polluted them and the immorality and the vices imported in Pakistan in the name of western culture have not debased them.
All the villagers are generally farmers. They do not own the land and are tenants of some zamindar, vadera or sirdar. They till the soil, plough the fields and produce crops. In each village there is a carpenter to mend the plough, a smith, a cobbler, a potter and a barber. All villagers are congenial and considerate. They love each other and help each other but if they are wronged they avenge. Generally they are conservative. They do not appreciate changes so the looks of the villages has not been changed since time immemorial. Their styles of houses, dress, living and cultivation have been inherited from generation to generation without a slight change. Some villages have primary schools but generally arrangements to educate the villagers are inadequate. In every village there is a Mosque and the villagers, being very religious, attend the masjid topy. In some villages the masjids are used as maktabs and boys and girls are taught Nazra Quran. In some big villages there are middle or high schools and facilities like hospital, telephone and electricity are also available.
Much has not done so far to uplift our villagers. Arrangements for proper education should be made in earnest. Hospitals and Post offices should be established. They must be induced to adopt modern ways of cultivation and financial help must be provided to them to purchase tractors, fertilizers standard seed and to install tube wells. Electrification of villages must be made.

The Police Man

English Essay on "The Police Man"

A policeman is a public servant. In foreign countries he helps people a lot. He is even ready to carry articles of an old or disabled man to his home. He is always ready to help you in any way. But in Pakistan things are otherwise. He is considered to be some one very important and nobody can dare ask him even to accompany him to show him the way. He is not a servant but a master.
Clad in proper uniform, a police man can be seen on a crossing controlling traffic, on a road walking leisurely or in a police car sitting with an automatic weapon. The traffic police man is clad in white uniform and a white helmet. The civil police man wears Khaki uniform and the armed police man is clad in Malaysia. In fact, it is the uniform that tells us if a police man belongs to traffic wing, civil wing or armed wing. 4essay.blogspot.com
A single police man controls the traffic at a crossing. It is not the man who controls the heavy traffic but it is the authority vested in him that controls. Cars, motor cycles, buses and trucks stop and stand still or move at his signals. They know that if they do not obey him, they would be challenged, fined or even jailed at his report.
The police deportment is a necessity for running the government smoothly. The main duty of a police man is to maintain law and order, arrest the wrong doers, criminals, culprits or suspects and produce them before courts with proofs to get them their due punishment. He has a very vast authority and as such every one is afraid of him. If he is annoyed, he can put one behind the bars. People report thefts, street fights or other accidents or incidents to the police and the police investigates to arrest the wrong doer. The Opponents of the ruling junta are always afraid of the police for they can be involved in any case falsely.
A police man is low paid but he is considered to be on the duty twenty fours hours a day and can be called for duty at any time. His duty is hard, and tedious. In chilling cold, scorching heat, stormy atmosphere and heavy downpour he is expected to be on his duty under all circumstances and is not expected to leave, no matter he becomes suddenly ill.
In different departments a nurse has to perform different duties. Some times, she takes the patients in a wheeled small chair outside the hospital room in the park of the hospital. She is glad when a patient is cured and sad when one expires in the hospital.
A nurse is always kind hearted and full of pity, of course, except a few whom I have found repulsive, unkind and rough. She approaches a patient with smiles on her tips and with her encouragements she kindles hopes in h heart. She loves to serve those patients even who are rough in manners and harsh in words. She is always by a seriously ill patient and calls on the duty doctor when needed. She treats the older people with reverence, the young’s with sisterly love and the infants with motherly cares.
My Beloved City Karachi

English Essay on "My Beloved City Karachi"

Situated at the Shore of the Arabian sea, Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan. It is the commercial hub of the country and pays about two third of the total income tax to the coffer of the government.
Karachi is a tremendously developing city and its boundaries are expanding. It is over populated and lacks, adequate amenities of life, but still its population is increasing. Since it was then the capital Pakistan, most of the migrants from India settled here. Since opportunities for jobs are ample in Karachi job seekers from all parts of the country continue to shift to this place. Due to the residing of people from all corners of the country in Karachi it is called Mini Pakistan.
Karachi is the only seaport of Pakistan at present. The imports and exports of Pakistan are routed through Karachi. It has Quaid-e-Azam International airport and aero planes take off or arrive every ten minutes. The airport has been modernized recently and is the biggest airport of the country. 4essay.blogspot.com
After the shifting of the capital to Islamabad the political importance of Karachi has dwindled but the commercial importance has not lessened. Karachi is the only seaport of Pakistan at present. The imports and Industries of all sorts have flourished here. It has been banned to set up factories and mills in Karachi since decades still it provides jobs to a tot of people.
Karachi is not rich like Lahore and Multan in historical buildings, masjids and shrines. There are only two historical places. One is situated at a distance of ten miles where there are the ruins of Mansoera on a mond. The other is Chawkandi. Chawkandi graves are situated at a distance of twelve miles. But there are some places to enjoy. The beach at Clifton swarms with people at evenings. The play land at Clifton attracts boy and girls of all ages. The aquarium at clifton attract people. Hawksbay and Paradise point are seaside picnic places. Mariora is an island and people go there by boat to enjoy the waves of the sea. At Manora, there is a light house.
A zoo in Karachi stands by Garden Road. It is not as populous as the zoo at Lahore or Bhawalpur. The national Museum is also worth-visiting. Kimaree is also a busy place as boats to manora start from Kimaree. Other worth seeing places are the Hill Park, the super markets at Clifton, and Tariq Road the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam which is very impressive, Safari Park, and the singing mountain. Besides, one will be amused to see most of the roads of Karachi decorated with deep large holes, pits and pools of dirty gutter water here and there.
He has to keep in his bag medicines, injections, of course, even glucose water or slime water packs for emergency.
A doctor must have we some qualities. He is not irritated when he is required to examine a patient at odd hours or when he is awakened from deep sleep. He must also not be nervous to see a patient in agony and tossing to and for. A few years ago my little nephew had obstructed intestine and the doctor at a Government hospital opened his abdomen and then asked the mother to bring four thousand rupees when he would proceed further. I will not forget my weeping sister whose clerk-husband was unable to provide the amount. My mother arranged amount and my nephew’s abdomen was then stitched after doing the needful.

A Visit To a Railway Station

English Essay on "A Visit To a Railway Station"

My cousin had come to us from Lahore last March. After a fortnight he intended to return and got his seat reserved in Tezgam. We reached cantonment station half an hour before the departure of the train, bought platform ticket for three persons who had come to see the cousin off and hired a cooli to carry his luggage.
A ticket checker was standing at the gate. We handed over to him our tickets. He nipped them and then returned them to us. As we stepped in I saw a large crowd. Some were standing or talking. Some were smoking and some were on the move. It appeared as if there was some fair. A few hawkers were selling their articles such as bangles, sweets, cigarettes etc. There were a few tea stalls and Pan cigarette cabins on platform number one which people had surrounded and were buying tea, cakes, pastries coca cola, cigarettes etc. There were some benches on which people were sitting. 4essay.blogspot.com
After a few minutes, Tezgam was at the platform. Soon there was a stir. Everybody moved briskly towards the train. Everybody was trying to get in. Coolies were busy in throwing the luggage inside he compartments through the windows. There were shouting, callings noises and commotion. Sonic people were trying to get in to the train through the windows. There was such a noise and tumult as if Doomsday had come.
Since my cousin’s seat was reserved, I searched far the conductor in-charge, who was responsible for reserved seat. He was standing at one end guiding passengers to their respective compartment in which their seal were reserved. We entered the first class compartment, put our luggage it the specific place and came out to have a stroll along the platform.
The commotion had abated but the noise was there. The train was full of passengers. Still the late corners were trying to get in. Some passengers who were lucky to get their seats were preventing the new corners from entering the compartment. Some were quarrelling and some were enjoying the quarrel. Some were trying to pacify the two parties. We went up to the other end of the train. When we returned back, every body was inside the compartments and waiting for the train to move. We hurried to get my cousin seated before the departure of he train. As he entered his compartment, the signal was downed and the train whistled. We came out of the compartment and the train moved.

A Visit to a Market

English Essay on "A Visit to a Market"

Saddar is the oldest market of Karachi. Once it was considered the main market of Karachi and despite the construction of a number of very attractive and big ones, Saddar has not lost its importance. A visit to Saddar is always exciting. All the daylong the streets are crowded with visitors, buyers, hawkers, and others. The foot paths of all the roads passing through Saddar are occupied by vendors and shopkeepers selling all kinds of goods, and it gets so congested that one has to make one’s way through with difficulty. The main road is always congested with buses, cars, Taxis and motor cycles.
As evening approaches, Saddar becomes livelier and livelier. It gets over crowded every where. Restaurants are filled with people busy in talking, laughing, eating and drinking. Nearly all the shops are crowded with buyers. Neonsigns, coloured bulbs and tube lights of different colours make Saddar look like a fancy place. Roads are over flooded with the lights from cars, taxis and buses.4essay.blogspot.com
On one end of Zaibun-nisa street there are shops selling electronic goods like freezers, refrigerators, deep freezers, juicers, and other things. This portion of the road becomes very congested at evening. On the other end of the Street are cloth markets and shops for spare parts, for electronic goods and machines.
Bohri bazar is another important section. It is a very busy market with small shops constructed in rows. The market occupies an area of seven acres. Shops of all kinds of goods such as cloth, Ready made clothes, woolen goods, crockeries, glass wares, china wares, plastic goods etc are there. The narrow lanes are thronged with buyers and hawkers.
Empress market is another important place of business. It has vegetable shops, fruit shops, booksellers shops, beetle leaves shop and shops serving coffee and other grocer’s items. This portion of Saddar is always swarmed by buses and other vehicles.
Saddar is an interesting place for an evening walk. But one must be careful of pick pockets who are very active there. There is also the danger of accident if one walks carelessly along the roads of Saddar. People selling counterfeit foreign goods like watches, Parker pens etc and those selling brass goods claiming them to be made of pure gold also lurk there.
